Debbie - TCK
Hello from Debbie (TCK)! I started selling at one shop in 2005 during recovery from back surgery. It was there that I met Connie, our owner of Second Thyme Around and I am honored to be called her friend. I learned a lot from her, displaying merchandise, and got lots of good tips from her on how to be successful in this business. I like to mix old and new things, my favorites being old advertising things: old grocery store merchandise for example, vintage pet things, pretty things, cookbooks, and very little glass- it's too fragile for me! I learned, too, that if I buy what I like myself, I will never be sorry I indulged. I collected Longaberger baskets for years, and always have for sale some of the older year baskets with the original dark stain (they are becoming more scarce) and odd ones that are hard to come by. I am still at that other shop, but then included an antique shop located in Medina. After working in a grocery store for well over 30 years, it was time to hang up my meat coat and start doing this full time!
When Connie opened up Second Thyme Around, I knew it was going to be a hit and was excited to sign up. I have not been disappointed. We have some of the nicest customers around. It’s also fun working there one day per month to meet people and talk about things un-related to my “old” job. Meeting the other sellers at the shop and getting to know them has been a bonus. What a bunch!

I volunteer at my local animal shelter making gift baskets since 2002 to get my pet fix. I also take care of our little gift shop at the shelter by filling it with donated items and decorating it. I enjoy going to flea markets, estate sales, and auctions looking for hidden treasurers and always on the hunt for the deal of a lifetime. I enjoy taking an old small piece of something, cleaning it up and perhaps repainting it so someone else can enjoy it once again. I try to “change it up” often so that people will get to see some of the new things I have found. I have been happily wed for almost 30 years. While my husband doesn’t share my interest in older things, he likes that I am devoting more time to something I truly like to do. |
